gs850 and gs1000 carbs the same?

someone told me that gs850 and gs1000 carbs are exzactly the same jetting and everything is this true?

also anyone know of a set of carbs that would work on a 1980 gs1000g other then the stock ones?

The 34CV's are a direct fit. Change the jetting accordingly.
    I.E. Use the 850 jetting.

the 1980 GS850GT are BS32 the 1980 GS1000G are BS34, and as far as jetting the only differences i see with the 1000 and the 850 are the Main jet, Needle jet, and Jet Needle.

      Main jet GS1000G-(#110) GS850GT-(#115) Needle Jet GS1000G-(X-8) GS850GT-(X-5) Jet Needle GS1000G-(5D57-3) GS850GT-(5D50)

        Hi,

Stock jetting chart HERE, complete with which carbs are used on which bike.

The GS850G uses Mikuni BS32SS carbs. The GS1000G uses BS34SS carbs. Modified intakes may be necessary to put the BS34SS on the 850.

        Thank you for your indulgence,

Again, they are a direct fit. I did it to my 850.

I don't think they are a direct fit. The diameter of the carb ports are different. I've heard of people stuffing them in regardless, but to me that's not a direct fit.

                  Hi,

What's a couple of silly millimeters among carburetors? It seems Mr. 7981GS has stuffed the 34mm carbs into the 32mm intakes. It's good to know that it can be made to work if necessary.

Anyway, I would think that putting smaller carbs on your GS1000G might not be the best thing to do. You might be able to get them to work with bigger jets and less restrictive air intake, but it would take some experimentation.
