    gs1000 fuel petcock????

i am currently restoring a 1979 GS1000E and i need to get a fuel petcock for it the bolt hole spacing is 52 mm on the fuel tank most petcocks i see for sale are 44mm even on z1's website where is a good place to get a new one
    thanks for replies

Hate to say it but that is the killer expensive petcock. For some reason Suzuki jacked up the price roughly 3x the cost of most other petcocks.

    Part# 44300-44011

I'd look for a rebuild kit.

There's one on E-bay that probably doesn't work, but you get free shipping! Current bids 0, starts at $20. A rebuild kit is what you may need.
I've had some success rebuilding these, it was frustrating until I figured out how they work and cleaning out the little vent hole for the diaphram.
Never had any luck finding a new one.

That lever less 1980 petcock is cheap, and that's a good thing because they fail often. Unfortunately, they only come in a 50mm size.

              Ed he needs a 52mm not a 44mm.

I would suggest purchasing a new 44mm tap and making an aluminium adaptor plate to fit it to the base of the tank. Two holes at 52mm apart and another two holes at 44mm apart and all should be good.

Similar to the one I made below, but with a couple of extra holes drilled in it.

              .

Thanks for correcting me Don. Sorry to have shared bad info.

I like your idea of making an adapter.
