    Needle jets/emulsion tubes

Obviously having difficulty finding a replacement needle jet for my cv carbs.

X-2 seems like an oddball size...possibly just for the Canadian carb set ups?

I've got a couple extra X-1 jets but not a complete set.

Would I notice much of an issue if I were to slap in one X-1 and leave the X-2's in the other three carbs?

Chef has a set of X-3's that were from a 750. And was considering using them...

How are the needle jets sized and do they have to be matched with a corresponding needle?

Is the X-3 a larger jet than the X-1?

    Thanks,

    Nic

      Hi,

Yes, I was going to suggest interrogating the usual suspects, Z1Enterprises.com, Sudco.com, Motorcyclecarbs.com.

If I'm reading it correctly, the parts fiche at Alpha-sports.com shows your needle jet to be an X-1.

      Thank you for your indulgence,

There are replacement needle jets for VM carbs, however, replacements for CV carbs are no longer available.

I've tried the usual suspects with no luck.

        Others have had similar problems...

I've actually got X-2 needle jets. According to the carb spec spread sheet, the 83 1100e canadian bikes had X-2's installed. Came stock with adjustable needles also.

I'm pretty sure the x denotes the diameter of the jet, so you should have no compatibility problems with your needles. After that the number and location of emulsion holes is probably different, so you'll probably want to keep all four the same. If you're no stranger to a wrench, you can guinea pig your carbs and put two x-2's on the inside and two x-1's (probably leaner) on the outside and report back so we know too.
If I remember right, you have a jet kit, so the x-1's will be right at home in your carbs, it's just the matter if they'll get along with their x-2 neighbors or not.
