    VM Carb Sync

    Hi Everyone,
I've got my carbs apart and clean, just waiting on the O-rings to come in so I can put them back together.

I've got a new motionpro tool waiting to do the sync. However, I noticed a lot of people talking about bench syncing first. But, every where I look the discussion is about CV carbs. Is this something you don't do on the VM carbs or is it just a different method?
    Thanks,
    Matthew

You need to sync these as well.

Different method, but the principle is the same.

Adjust your master idle speed so one slide just barely shows a sliver of light underneath it. Now adjust all the others for the same size sliver of light.

Note that there is also a "maximum opening" adjustment on the VM carbs That keeps the slides from going too far up, causing turbulence in the airflow. I think it calls for a maximum of 1 mm past the edge of the throat.

I use a small drill bit, Just open the adjuster with the carbs facing down until the drill bit falls out. Do them one at a time. It will get you pretty close

Same deal but i use the thin plastic tube you get with WD40/RP7 or chainlube.

The problem with using any object, whether it's a paper clip, drill bit, etc., is that you have to get it in exactly the same spot in each carb. If you go off-center, you will have to open the throttle farther before it slides out. Turning the adjuster while eyeballing a sliver of light is quicker, easier and will not scratch the bores in the carbs.
