Hi John, nice to meet you. Thanks for the reply. I am putting them on another gs 1000e I will be taking to the track, the bike they are coming off I ride around town alot, and just don't need the power, they suck alot more fuel, and I can better utilize the carbs on my track bike. I dismantled the 29smbores, here is what is inside

      slides 1.5
      needle jet 261 F0-6
      needles 5DL31
      Main 115
      pilot 25
      Air 09

I used to run these in the early 80's, but don't remember much of the set up, (kind of foggy, being the 80's and all) A little Japanese guy out of Van Nuys CA named Matsu, of Esgargo Racing was tuning my bikes and setting up the carbs, He was really good at carving heads too. Anyway, let me know what you think, I do appreciate it. I believe it would be on the lean side with the parts above. Thanks Ken

I can give you the jetting off my 1105 KZ900. they are 17.5 pilots with 120 mains & mixture screws 1/8 out. This bike has 10.25-1 pistons, 260/260 395 cams and a ported head on it. I also took 33s off of it and put 29s on it. The 33s were a PIA on normal riding. I really didnt see much if any difference in power. This is pretty much a std kawasaki setup as far as jetting goes

Thanks Guy's for the welcome, and all the info. I have ridden and rode these for years in the early 80's, and have had a lot of the issues associated with the gs 1000 series. I have had several of these bikes sitting around for awhile, and figured it was time to get them going. I recently sold a nice GS 1000s, and have 1 left, and a nicely modded gs 1000e.

I will be milling the 1.5 slides to 2.5, and will start with 120 mains to see how it runs. I have a Yosh 1023 piston kit I may put in eventually, and probably drop in some megacycle cams. I'll do a valve job w/springs, and that will probably be enough to keep me entertained for awhile.

Thanks again for the info. and all the links. Ken

Why are you milling the slides to 2.5?

2.5 seems to be what others set up is and they seem to be working, Have you had success with 1.5?? Thanks Ken
Here is what I will be trying for first set up. I m at 20' above sea level thanks Ken

                  120 mian
                  25 pilot
                  5dl31-3 needle
                  needle jet 261-FO-6

Yep i have 1.5 slides but mine has a slight dip when i crank the throttle open midrange. Have to roll it on. 1085 kit, ported head with 1mm o/s ss steel ex valves, stage 1 yoshi cams, Tingate full race system. 105hp at rear wheel. Leaving it atm as putting 33's on like it used to have when it first got built.

The 33s ran really good on my bike but I never could get them to idle right. They were just a PIA in everyday riding. Your results may vary

The 33's do not draw enough intake vaccum to suck air and GAS, so they run lean and hang up on idle, I have had them work on a Big ccc motor. Ken
