Carb balancing screws on intake side?
The search function doesn't seem to be working so I'm not sure if this has been touched on or not, but I ordered new intake boots for my GS1000GLT. The old ones didn't have the vacuum ports; the ports are in the aluminum instead. The new boots, ordered through the dealer, have the vacuum ports on the boots themselves. I'm not sure it makes a difference, other than doubling the potential for a leak someday, but is this an issue?Tags: None

You can buy rubber caps for them at Napa Auto Parts. That way they are not screwed up (double entendre intended).

Have you put them on yet? My bet they're the wrong ones. 850's had the screw on the pipe, and smaller carbs. I'm not sure about the TSCC (16 valve) engines.

Yea, sounds like the wrong boots. Tell the dealer to get you the right ones unless you agreed to aftermarket.Ed

Hi,
The Suzuki OEM part numbers you want:
Part# 13110-49100
Desc: PIPE,INTAKE RH
Part# 13120-49100
Desc: PIPE,INTAKE LH
The right and left intakes are different part numbers. You need two of each.
Thank you for your indulgence,
BassCliff

Thanks guys - as you've figured out, it's the boots from the 850 that I was sent. The dealer put in a rush on the replacements for me this morning.
A perk to making a few wrong turns with this resto is stumbling upon new information. After going through some diagrams I've found out that my GS didn't come with the clutch cable guide that attaches to one of the intake boot screws. The dealer tells me it's no longer available. I'm sure it's not a huge deal but after seeing I'm missing it, I want one now! Any guidance?

Hi,
Have a look at my air intake repair guide and bend up a coat hanger into a similar shape until you can find a used one.
Thank you for your indulgence,

That's the way I was thinking - funny how someone else's suggestion makes you feel better about an idea!

Just a thought but hobby shops sell music wire, which is quite strong and would be less prone to bending than a coat hanger.Ed

Once again the 850's got the wire. 1000's got a plate bolted to the carb top and front connector bar. If your plate is missing, coat hanger or music wire is a good replacement. Don't try to run without someting to keep the cable from jamming the throttle linkage.

I logged in to check into this - haven't looked at my carbs for awhile but recalled some sort of plate while at work this afternoon. Confirmed it while looking at the bike this evening.
Thanks Buddy!
