Why on earth would you set them THAT way?
I had no idea screws were so variable!

You're talking to a graduate student here. I get the bike opened up for one thing, get distracted with another. Then spend 3 weeks getting up at 4 am to look at pumpkin flowers before I can finish either thing. After that, the juvenile part of me takes over, "Just wannnnaaa riide, dad!"

Seeing as how I won't be able to even look at it again until mid-Sept, maybe I should order those shims...

Good idea on ordering the shims. Z-1 enterprises has them and there is a Shim Club for this site. If 2 and 3 aren't firing, you might want to turn your key on and check voltage at the battery and compare it to voltage at the coil for 2 and 3. Even though you see a spark, it may be weak for 2 and 3. You can search up "Coil Relay" if you find voltage to the coils is low.
