Possible exhaust solution for '80 GS1000S...?

Anyone know if these would fit a 1980 S model? Ad sez they're late '70's, but could these be from '80 L model? Any specific info (serial #) I should ask seller?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

The flare of the mufflers makes me think it's from an "L" model. Did the seller mention what model the exhaust came from? (I don't think there were any "L" models in the '70s.) There should be some information stamped on the muffler itself. I would think that if it is the same size engine, the only glitch you might come across is having to modify the rear mounting bracket.

    Thank you for your indulgence,

    BassCliff

Can't see the photo (firewall issue) but the 1980 GS1000ST exhaust is very similar to the 1979 GS1000L (chain drive) exhaust, which should be a direct bolt on (I think). The 1980+ GS1000GL exhaust (shaft drive) is similar as well but I'm hedging on it being a direct bolt on. Another direct bolt on exhaust is the regular chain drive GS1000 exhaust, with the long mufflers. The 1979 GS1000S used this common exhaust, which is easier to find than some of these others.

For that asking price, I would get them and make them fit. (relocate rear mounting bolt hole may be all that is needed. )

Heck, for that price I'd get it and take my chances, you could always re-sell them. That's a great price !!!!

Seller said exhausts are stamped GS1000L, and is sending more pics today. Apparently a bit of road rash is involved...
Thanks again all for the insight.

Thanks, Cliff. Working out shipping; of course it will be more $ than the pipes themselves.

Speaking of exhaust systems, this ad is for what they claim is a NOS Yoshimura exhaust for the GS750/850/1000. Seller wants $350, which is a good deal if it's an actual Yoshimura. http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv...511580668.html
