    Locked Up Choke

All - I had rebuilt (and cleaned) the carbs on my '81 GS850. I had knee replacement surgery and had to step away from the bike for a couple of months. I went out the other day to try and get her going and the chokes were locked up on 2 carbs. It wasn't the cable as 2 of the 4 moved freely after removing them from the bike.

I had cleaned and dipped the carbs as shown in the tutorials, but I'm now wondering what I missed that would have caused the chokes to freeze in the carb. They finally worked loose with some carb cleaner.

    Thanks for your responses.

I wouldn't think there was anything that you missed, they may have just lost their lubrication. I sprayed some silicon lightly on the chokes when they were getting kinda hard to move and it worked beautifully. Just dab a little from your finger tip on the part that slides out.
