    78 gs1000e carbs

    was wondering what carbs i could swap out my stock carbs its has pods an 4into1 for a little more performance thanks jerry

    I think the 29mm smoothbores are a popular performance upgrade.

      If your engine is stock the 26's are plenty.

        29mm smoothies would be the go even suzuki upgraded to carbs over the models
        GS1000ST here had 30mm oval bore carbs

            33s are your best upgrade in the States

            The 29 SB goes for crazy money = $600-1,000
            1978 GS 1000 (since new)
            1979 GS 1000 (The Fridge, superbike replica project)
            1978 GS 1000 (parts)
            1981 GS 850 (anyone want a project?)
            1981 GPZ 550 (backroad screamer)
            1970 450 Mk IIID (THUMP!)
            2007 DRz 400S
            1999 ATK 490ES
            1994 DR 350SES

                I am going with Todd...maybe just go up one size in jetting and tweek them in accordance to the pods or airbox...all BIGGER carbs really do is dump extra gs in that realt dosent need to be there...26 wil supply all youll ever need. Save the money and reinvest it into somethingb else the bike really needs and can use.

                  bike dosen t realy need much more bought from 3rd owner in real good shape looking to get little more out of it. what size main jets and pilot jets are factory ?

                      With the small port heads??? It's like adding a 780 cfm double-pumper carb to a 2 barrel 325 cfm intake on your car.
                      Perhaps with the later large port heads, but not with the heads currently on his bike.
                      Use the stock carbs or find a set of 29's.

                          That's British spec

                          You can tell by the red bike, not a US color

                          Basically, putting bigger carbs on requires a cam upgrade as well to best utilize the combo of mods and get some serious power

                          For a 4-1 and pods, the rejetted 26s are your best bet

                          The bike came with

                          main -95
                          pilot -15

                          You'll want to have something like

                          Main -120
                          Pilot -20
                          Raise the needles one notch
                          1978 GS 1000 (since new)
                          1979 GS 1000 (The Fridge, superbike replica project)
                          1978 GS 1000 (parts)
                          1981 GS 850 (anyone want a project?)
                          1981 GPZ 550 (backroad screamer)
                          1970 450 Mk IIID (THUMP!)
                          2007 DRz 400S
                          1999 ATK 490ES
                          1994 DR 350SES
