    Are the floats solid?

    Hello all,
I am tearing down the carbs and the#2 has what looks like a good size hole in it. The bike seemed to be running fine when I tore it down. Previously, for no reason at all, i thought the floats were hollow, but if that were the case, I would think that with a hole in the float it would have run pretty rich. When I look at the float it appears now that it might be some kind of solid foam, rather than just hollow.

The plastic flaot in mine appear to be solid.
I checked em by floating them in water to see if bubbles came out.
They both floated and floated up to the same point on each unit.
I am pretty sure the metal ones are hollow as solid brass would sink methinks.
http://nortonfastback.com/puch/250/?tag=carburetor has a shot of a soldered brass float. And the cutest baby in the world.

Cool, thanks! The only floats I had ever seen were the brass ones, so previously I assumed these were hollow as well. I'm glad they're not, or I'd have to be buying a new one.
