    bike not idleing or accelerating

I have a 1983 katana 650 it will only run on choke and when i do try to rev it up it bogs down. Also when i pull the line off the petcock no gas comes out i was wondering if that might be the reason why. The bike has sat for a few years so i drained the gas and cleaned the carbs but it still does it.

    thanks chris

Hi Chris. Your petcock is a vacuum desugn (assuming you still have the standard one fitted). It should only flow petrol through when the engine is running.

Have you cleaned the carbs completely as per the tutorial? I suspect your problem lies in dirty carbs / blocked jets.

Wow, I'm not posting any questions, cuz I won't live this long!
He probably meant that it's 20 years overdue for maintenance, which is very likely no matter what info you have received from previous owners. Assume the worst, read up on what needs to be done, and return this bike to happy motoring, This is nice model- I've yet to see one !
