Is the fuel line 1/4" on the 750? it looks larger but the local shop swears it's 1/4".
i'm asking because i'm about to buy some braided fuel line and an inline filter and just want to triple check.

I believe it is a 6 or 7mm line. Take a look at the "Where do these hoses go" post on Basscliff's site for more info though.Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

Probably but instead of taking my word why not use your calipers and measure the outside diameter of your petcock in mm - that will equal the inside diameter of the hose you need.Cowboy Up or Quit. - Run Free Lou and Rest in Peace

Bike Bandit seems to be the second-most-expensive dealer for most items, right after Alpha Sports.
I have my list of vendors, it includes all the vendors on BassCliff's list and a coulple others, but the ones I use the most are G&S Suzuki and Part Shark.

You also probably don't want to add a filter. Most filters are too restrictive, as they are made for cars with fuel pumps that will push the gas through. If you insist on using a filter, get one for a lawn tractor, as most of them have gravity-fed fuel systems, like our bikes.
Originally posted by Stahlgrau333 View PostIf I remember correctly, the 1/4" IS too big. It will 'work', but it won't be 'right'. The correct size is metric, but I can't recall what it is off the top of my head.
By the way, the braided line you were looking to put on there is made for whatever size it's listed for. If it's 1/4" line, you will have a hard time stretching that reinforced line over the 7mm fittings on the bike. If you get 5/16" line, it will slip onto the fittings, but then you have to get clamps and really tighten the snot out of them before they cinch the large hose down far enough to stop the leaks. I use stock OEM hoses and do not use ANY clamps on my fuel lines.

By the way, good luck finding a fuel filter with 7mm fittings.

it seems odd to me that all these bikes use 7mm fuel line and it is nearly imposible to find 7mm fuel hose? what the hell is the problem?
i found some 7mm cloth braided fuel line that seems as though it would work, what do you all think?

or should i go with the 5/16" and clamp it?

I am trying to make sure that I am ordering the right main jets for my 79 GS 750. anyone know which jets go in the VM carbs on this bike?
i think it is this type of jet, at least that is what seems to be in there now but i feel like i keep reading conflicting info and i don't think these are "super BS" carbs.
they look like these but I'm not 100% and wanted to make sure, it's hard to tell when you don't have the old jets next to the new ones for comparison.
I also bought a a set of the hex ones accidentally because it said that they were for the VM carbs BEFORE i took the carbs apart, i know that is stupid but is there any chance these will work??

I'm pretty sure I found the cause of the throttle hang. When I disassembled the carbs to soak and clean I found a bent slide needle. I'm geussing that this bent needle was preventing the throttle from allowing the slide to close. does this make sense or am I way off here and the bent needle is inconsequential?
I haven't got the carbs back together yet but I will be sure to let you guys know how she runs once i start her back up again.

So Steve just happened to be in NH this weekend and was kind enough to swing by my abode and lend me a hand with my valve adjustment and i can't thank him enough, it was really educational.
now, once i get my new shims in and hook the carbs up i'll be all set to fire her back up and start to dial her in, i'm really excited, now on to some wiring and brake work until the shims come in.
and just so this thread wraps up i'll post when i start the bike again to make sure that it was the bent needle that was causing the hanging idle. although, the o-rings definitely needed replacing and one of the carb boots was had a chunk taken out of it(which i replaced) so i'm sure those factors didn't help.
