    Jet Now, or later?

Okay, I did a search... For about 3 hours , on the clock. Some good tips, but not specific to my question.

I have my carbs off My gs1000 ..for a good cleaning , replacing o rings and boots and such.

When I put them back on, I will be putting on K&N Pods.

Next Spring, (or maybe sooner) I will be putting on a Vance & Hines 4-into-1 exhaust.

I've read that you MUST re jet If using Pods and aftermarket (Less restrictive) exhaust.
    • Should I Just Do the Jets now?
    • Is there any harm In having a Jet kit With factory airbox/exhaust?(if I kept all else stock)
    • Any suggestions on which jets, where to buy?
Also, I am Not 100% clear on which carbs I have.I thought they were BS34SS?
But I have a 1980 GS1000GLT so the title says.
    It is shaft drive.
I think the manual is saying VM26SS for the L series..does that include the GLT?The more I read the more confused I get.

    Thanks for any help.

In my experience your bike will not run correctly with pods and not being rejetted. You CAN rejet now and run pods on a stock exhaust no problem, I have done it for years. You can also run a stock box and jet kit with good results.

Get a Dynojet kit and follow the instructions for Pods and stock pipe.
Change the jetting when you change the pipe.
The kit includes all the jets to do this.
