'85 GS850G. Stock exhaust system match.

    Hi,

Got above bike, want to return it to stock 4 into 2. Saw this on eBay -

Are all exhaust systems through the years compatible? I'm running a 4 into 1 motard at the moment and it runs lumpy and burbles on deceleration. Is this a sign that it was never re jetted to run such an aftermarket exhaust?
    Any help appreciated.......

    Tris UK.

P.s Still has stock air box, intake rubbers etc.

That is an early 850 exhaust, the mounting flanges are on the bottom. The later 850 mounting flanges are different, but you could most likely find some way to fit those up if necessary.

Burbling from the exhaust can be jetting related, or it could just be a matter of tone as well. Most likely the jetting is stock, thus the condition, but the only way to know is to pull the carbs.

BTW, the proper way to judge jetting is by doing some plug chops. Guessing sucks.

    To measure is to know.
