    Internal needle adjustment??? HELP needed

I am trying to get a 1978 GS750 running and having problems with the carbs..Bike runs very rich and fouls plugs. I have the carbs appart now and they have 100 main jets and 15 pilot jets all in good order. There is a needle screw that the Clymer manuel just says "this is adjusted from the factory and painted adjustment should not be attempted". Ok someone beat me to them because there was no paint and I have found one that is bent and the tip broken off. So, 1. how do I get a replacement needle? 2. where do you start with adjustment or setting them? Since the manuel says don't touch, it doesn't give any place to start either. Thanks in advance for any help given.

    Hi,

    Remove Stuck Pilot Screws

    (by Mr. Hoomgar)

    Plug Chops-Highest RPM Methods

(by Mr. tkent02 and Mr. psyguy)

    Shimming The Needle

For parts, start with z1enterprises.com. If not, sudco.com should have them.

    Thank you for your indulgence,

      Pilot fuel screw

So I now know this is a pilot fuel screw. All chanels are clean and clear of pieces. O-rings are trashed on 2 of 4 and the one is bent and broken. Going to order kits from Z1. Can anyone give me the setting for the pilot fuel screw on a 1978 GS750EC ? Clymer says factory adjusted.
      Thanks - MM

The pilot fuel jet was set at half a turn out on mine when I tore them apart recently. However, now you have them out you should do the full carb rebuild as recommended by just about EVERYONE on this forum.

        Only use Robert Barr's o-rings http://www.cycleorings.com/VMkit.html

And get the intake o-rings while you're there.
