    something weird just happened.

Hello, I have a 1082 gs 550 and while I was riding home lastnight and my throtle got stuck. I inspected it and everything looks ok. the throtle position on the carbs is all the way down like it should be and theres no tension on the cable. choke is off too. I cant figure out what it is can somone please help?

If the cable connection at the carbs is OK, then I would check the cable connection at the throttle tube end. Make sure the cable isn't kinked either...

Not sure i am quite getting what happened, like Mike said check the throttle cable connection at the handlebar. The plastic sleeve might be broken.

everything looked fine so last night i pulled the carbs off. somehow a peice of string got into the #3 carb and wraped arounf the choke plate causing it to stay open.

since i have them off now im going to take them apart and clean them =)

          Interesting!
It goes to show that anything can and will happen.

I've had the cables splinter apart and causes the throttle to get stuck.
(because the individual wire strands are catching on things)

Glad to hear you found the problem.
String? I thought duct tape was the roadside fix-it.
