    PVC Intake

Hey guys, I was just wondering what you thought of this idea. I don't know if it's been done on our bikes or not, but when I was on the Yamaha XJ bikes forum, a couple of guys would make a custom manifold out of PVC pipe and a pod filter sized right around the size of the filter originally in the airbox. Now, I have an '81 GS750L and I don't want to lean the bike out anymore than it is now. Has anyone else attempted such a feat or have any suggestions? Mind you, the finished product would not be simply white PVC, I would probably paint it black or grey to match. I was also planning to pipe it out and forward of the engine.

Here's the link to the post I'm talking about: http://xjbikes.com/Forums/viewtopic/p=212529.html

Thanks in advance for your help.

i have heard of people getting a green tinge on their plugs when trying to make a snorkel for 4x4 use. something about PVC not being made to handle the heat

My 1100 didnt come with the rear air filter box. I trimmed a piece of pvc to fit about 2-3 inches long, and fixed it to the rear of the air box, with a screw and sealant. I filed down th he other end to fit a standard size k&n filter, and ran a stage 1 jet kit ( and 4-1). Flows well, but keeps air intake stable with the collector there.

      Runs great.
