    Raise your hands

Let me see a show of hands, of those who attempted to take 30 plus year old Diaphragms apart and rip them?

And let me tell you, they are not cheap to replace....

Oh well, thats why we like old bikes, love the challange.

    Hi,

Sorry to hear of your inconvenience. I think partsnmore.com has pretty good prices on diaphragms. I don't know what bike you have (hint: put it in your sig file) but give their site a visit. Another favorite is Z1Enterprises.com. They may be available from Suzuki OEM, but, yes, they are rather pricey.

    Thank you for your indulgence,

The diaphragm is permanently affixed to the slide. What do you mean by take them apart?

When you take the carbs all the way apart to soak in Carb cleaner, you kinda wanna take the RUBBER THINGY'S out!

And I got 4 new ones from Bike Bandit already.

I was going for HUMOR here gents, never serious. I only get serious at work. Testing jet engines does that.....

You don't have to soak the slides. Have you seen the rebuild tutorial linked in my signature?

Yes, I caught the self-deprecating humor. But we try to be a helpful bunch. Wow, even partsnmore.com has a $90 price tag on the slide/diaphragm for my bike. Bike Bandit wants $148.99!

There is a company in Califrornica that can "rerubber" carb slides. Rather expensive as I recall. I've considered trying to develop a process to do this myself.

Agreed. I was told just to wipe it down with carb cleaner and a rag.

not to hijack this thread (I think this is relative) If one has spare diaphrams, is there any danger of them drying out? How should they be stored? Silicone in a zip lock bag?
