V&H 4 into 1 vs Marshall deeptone

I just bought a V&H 4 into 1 for my GS 1000 XP ( GS 1000 S with GSXR suspension and wheels) in the hope it would increase the ground clearance...
Guess what? It doesn't compared to the Jama/ Marshall deeptone exhaust.
This exhaust is in fact designed for a GS 1000 G but with a slight modification it will fit a GS 1000 E or S.
Here are a few pictures but bear in mind that the GS 1000 XP's frame ( in black ) is approximately 2 cm lower than the GS 1000 EC ( in blue).
In the end I switched the Jama exhaust to the XP.
It doesn't look too bad I believe?

I like the way the Jama/Marshall tucks up tighter under the engine.

How about a comparison about perceived quality between the two, and the sound?

Yes, the Jama almost touches the bottom of the engine case.
As far as the sound goes, the V&H is the clear winner.
Not too difficult as it is illegal here in France to make this much noise
With respect to quality it's difficult to judge on day one but beyond the V&H sticker beeing upside down, I believe the Jama will win in the long(er) term without beeing exceptional.
I'd be interested in reading a report on the Harris Works Collection model to compare?

The finish on a Marshall is far superior to that on a Harris - and that's a shame as I prefer the look of a Harris. The chrome is woefully thin and if you rub too hard with Autosol for example you'll go straight through it in no time. Harris needed a kick up the ar*e for this - no excuses.

I haven't got anything to judge side by side at the moment but the Harris was always a bit vulnerable to kerbing through carelessness; it seems that 90% of the secondhand ones around have dented headers. However, I have never dented a Harris on any of the bikes I have owned. On the other hand, I have scrazed a Marshall on an unexpectedly tight right hander (the sort that leaves stains in your trousers).

On noise a Harris wins hands down. The race Harris is illegal over here for road use (way too loud) but the road pipe sounds just as nice in my opinion. The Marshall makes an ok noise though the Deeptone element is lost on me.
