Rejetting for Pod filters & a pair of shorty slip on silencers

    Hiya,

Im about to Rejet for Pod filters & 2 shorty slip on silencers.

My carbs have the Original jets in as below:

    Main Jet = 102.5

    Pilot Jet = 15

Can anyone tell me what size jets i need to compensate for the Pods & Shorty's ??

    Thankyou,

117.5 to 122.5 main jets should get you in the right ball park. It's not definitive and you may end up outside that range but it'll be a start point. Plus raise the needles by one notch.

For the pilot circuit try richening the fuel screws up to approx 3 turns out to see if that can 'tune in' the stock 15 pilot jet. If not, a 17.5 pilot jet is as large as you'll need.

Pull off the two floatbowl vent lines and leave the vents open pointing down. Synch the carbs and set the air screws to 1 3/4 turns out to start with.

      Have fun!

Wish i could understand it LoL.

I was hoping that someone could give me a straight forward jet size to try from, from a similar setup that worked well etc!.

        But thank you anyway,

Rainman, there is no straight forward answer except to do some trial and error investigation.

My interpretation is that you should go up 2 jet sizes for K&N pods, and 1 jet size for a custom 4 into 2 exhaust. They are sized by 2.5, so if you go up 2+1 sizes you should start with a 110 main. Since you went up 3 sizes on the main, go up 1 size on the pilot, which would make it a 17.5.
But all these numbers are just a swag. Only a wideband or plug chops will get you where you want to go. As others pointed, it is a lengthy process that means a lot of carb removals and installs as you go up or down in the jet sizes.

              Ok, thank you guys.

My friend has given me his old refurbished airbox & new standard filter, the rubbers on the airbox are very soft, unlike mine which are hard as rock.

So, if i was to keep the standard airbox & filter, would i have to jet due to the shorty slip on silencers ??

              Sorry to be a pain.

Don't bin your old airbox as new rubbers are still available.

If you're just fitting shorty pipes the chances are you'll be able to tune the carbs in with the existing jets - just a tweak here and there on the fuel screws and / or air screws. Plug chops will tell you.

You may have to go up one on the mains. You may have to add one washer to adjust the needle. You should be able to adjust the pilot by turning it out a bit.
As hh stated, the only way to know for sure is by plug chops.
