    1982 gs(x)750e carb flood

Hi, I`m rebuilding an `82 GS(X= how it`s called everywhere but the states)750E and I wanted to start the bike last week without the tank and with a cut open plastic botlle upside down to the fuel tube. Now the strange thing is that the carbs gave up fuel and it dripped out pretty fast at the back of the carbs(no air filter yet). Bike was not running yet.
Is it so that this is normal because when the tank is on the vacuüm desides that is is running and the fuel is sucked in? Or should I renew my needle seats?

Hope to hear from one of you technicians

NOT NORMAL.If bike has been sitting, crud likely is interfering with seats along with the rest of carbs so this is warning to clean the carbs properly or endure needless aggravation sorting out running problems later. Very common problem, so do a search or just follow link to Basscliff's site to get you started.

well thank you for answering my question.
What I forgot to say is that the carbs where out off the bike for a while and I totally cleaned them, so sludge can`t be the problem, guess I just need new float needles and seats? will it solve my problem?

Can`t wait to hear it running!

If you just cleaned them tap on the float bowls to seat the float needle in the seat.
