    Aaaah I see! However is the hookup on the carbs the same? If so, then Macguyver's setup should still work as from memory he made a bracket to actuate the choke directly... sort of the opposite of what I did by making mine 'bar mounted instead of using the lever on the carb

      As Steve said, 81 came stock with center pulled knob- the controls often get replaced.
