Berryman's in Canada

I an extremely excited aboot having acquired a fantastic '83 gs750e. I have bought the oring kit and am getting ready to tear down the carbs as per everyone's suggestion on here. I cannot find Berryman's Chem-Dip anywhere. I tried my local UAP/NAPA and Carquest with no luck. Walmart and Canadian Tire are a no go. Does anybody know where I can get this magical product in Canada? If not, are there any comparable products I can use instead?

get a brush as well, some baby bottle brushes, and a good stiff brush, rinse with hot water, you can take everything apart or leave it whole except the diaphragms, I would at least pull those out

let it soak for at least 24 hours, agitate if you can, every once in a while, and I would suggest leaving it outdoors, the pine smell can get overwhelming....

Welcome and nice bike with potential there. Now all of the stores you mention have a carb cleaning solution in a 4 litre can of some kind, I'm surprised they didn't point to you to them. Berryman's is not sold up here as I understand it but the domestic stuff works fine. I get my at Carquest and I think it was around $30 or so. Stinks something horrible so maybe the Pinesol would be better. Haven't tried it myself however.

What I do is use 4 seperate plastic margarine or icecream "pails". One for each carb and jets. Let things sit 24 hours or at least overnight. when you are done, strain the solution through coffee filters back into the can and save for next time.

When cleaning and rebuilding your carbs, you will be putting in new o-rings. I wanted to mention that while the existing o-rings may look ok, they will very likely have some splits or tears in them that you won't notice unless you pull the ring out of its normal shape. I've heard of more than one new rebuilder reuse the rings thinking they look fine. Just a heads up.

So where are you and what are the plans for that beast? Nice to see we have another black 750 in the fold.

Spy, some of them did point out another kind of carb cleaner, but I was adamant aboot Berrymans as that is what everybody raves aboot on here. I have already purchased the full oring kit incl. intake boot orings from cycle orings and I am going to follow the carb cleaning tutorials found here.

My plans are to ride the bike as much as possible because I like to smile.

wow nice bike , it would look great if the stickers were gold to match the rims, i assume thats a canadian model e? it looks just like the ed but no cowl and a dif headlight

Even my oldest Son, likes that bike!
He doesn't like any of these "old" bikes.

That did change yesterday when I let him ride the '81 1100EX though.
He hates the speedo on it. He said that he was only in fourth at 40 mph and instantly it was past 85.
He was afraid that he might break the worthless speedo. LOL!

I checked with UAP and I can get the Kleen Flo, but quite pricey so I have to wonder aboot the pinesol route. I don't mind paying the $$ if it is gonna clean the carbs as well as I hear. However, if pinesol does the same thing....

Yes, Kleen-Flo is very dear, but keep in mind that it is (almost) infinitely reuseable if you use a cheesecloth to remove all the junk you are going to generate. It will just settle down into the bottom when you let it sit.

I recommend putting the small bits in some sort of keeper mesh bag/metal sieve, and finding a way to seal the container. The smell, um, lingers on for quite some time. You can buy a container just large enough to soak one carb at a time.

Caution: do NOT soak your choke plungers. The bushings will not react well to Kleen Flo
