    1100E petcock/airbox Qs

okay before you flame me i tried searching but couldnt find much.

my 82 GS1100E petcock is seized from sitting with fuel in the tank for 10 years. i took it off the tank and with it together i have gum out soaking inside of it. will this work or will i have to buy a rebuild kit or get a new petcock?

and how do i get the airbox that goes to the carbs out? it looks almost impossible without taking the engine out.

thanks guys sorry for the noob questions.

Rebuild kits don't work very well so you are better off buying a new one from Z1.

In order to get the airbox out you have to pull the carbs out the left side of the engine. You also have to disconnect the cables once you get them out. Then unbolt the 2 bolts on the frame and it comes out.
Rebuilding the petcock seldom works out, but it may be worth a try.

Take the battery box bolts out too, it gives you a little bit more room

ON some models they don't fit at all, on others they work just fine.
Don't know about the '82 1100E petcock rebuild kits.

Hey Mark, contrary to what some people say, I have had NO problems with rebuilding petcocks. Give me a call if you want to come put all of it in my ultrasonic cleaner. Pull the carbs & then the airbox will come out. Also, after I get my new welder I can help you fix that frame tube if you want. Let me know, Ray.
