1978 gs 750 carbs cleaned now the oil glass gauge looks black and over full.

    i only did just mess with the petcock. tuesday may be the night to check the float heights and make adjustments if needed if that doesn't solve the problem then ill replace the petcock. who knows maybe my dumb@#$ left it on pri and that did it...

      Set both sides of the floats and move them up and down to see that they are free and all that. Also, on the ends of the float needles is a little spring loaded thing..be sure its free too. Looks like this. And heres the little raised edge you measure from. Yes these are crappy carbs that i just used to snap an example picture from.

      I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

        That will do it. the float needles are not really intended to hold back the head pressure in the tank, although the will if everything is really perfect.

          thank you chuck, i figured out the problem the other day, it was the float heights.. i completely messed those up when i rebuilt the carbs but now its running like a dream and no gas into the crankcase... im glad you told me that since i was one click away from purchasing a whole new petcock and spending more of what little money i have.
