i went thru the same thing just last night. here are the instructions. but instead of using a straight pick Ive used one with a 90 degree bend on, it makes life easier. anyways, here are the instruction, good luck
ops... misunderstood... a tiny left hand drill bit, and then an easy out if its still there

I just went through this last week. The guy that "worked" on my carbs managed to mangle the pilot jet slots - there was absolutely nothing for a screwdriver to bite on. After unsuccessfully trying the left-handed drill bit (ended up drilling right through it), I tried the easy out method.
I was hesitant to use the easy out after reading about the disaster that results from breakage, but seeing as these are secondary carbs, I figured I'd give it a try. Needless to say, it worked. I should mentioned, however, that I applied penetrating oil and heat a few times, over a couple of days, before using the easy out.

He said that the whole screw is in there, not just the tip. You have a helpful link that is of no assistance to him.

I also got crazy looks from these same "tool experts" when I was looking for 3 in 1 oil. A couple said they'd never heard of it!!! I've been using the stuff since I was 5 for gods sake. How can anyone older than me have never heard of 3 in 1 oil? Let alone work at a hardware/automotive/tool shop?? Crazy...

You guys are all on acid!!!! He's talking about pilot jets --- not pilot screws. Two totally different operations to remove.

I have it soaking in penetrating oil and will try the left handed bits as soon as i get them, If all else fails I will have to get a new carb body.

I cannot begin to express my gratitude, thanks to everyone for contributing their ideas. I got the pilot jet our first try with a left handed drill bit!
