gs1100 carb tunning
ok i could not find the old post so i started a new one. today my dynojet kit came in a long with the carb sync tool. now since this is a new post but still going off the old one i have a 81 gs1100 with a 4-1 filters and a sidewinder header. i was told by cafe kid that i could rejet my stock carbs all day and not get them to work right and the only way to do it is with a stage 3 jet kit so i got one. now that i have it i want to know every ones take on this before i do any thing. is there a ball park to start with i dont want too just put in with the 138 jet if i dont need to but lil lost here.Last edited by Guest; 05-07-2012, 09:07 PM.Tags: None

Works well for me, my plugs are a bit on the darker side but better there then lean.'85 GS550L - SOLD

My setup is
K&N pods on 34mm Mikuni CV carbs.
Kerker pipe with standard 1.5" baffle.
DJ 138 main jet. (approx same as Mikuni 130, per discussion below)
Needle raised to next-to-last position (#5 position of 6 avaliable. Instructions say to start with #3 midpoint)
Pilot air jet is the DJ #160 (richer than stock, one size smaller than the Mikuni #170)
Mixture screws 2.5 turns out.
I'm about to bump the main jet one size up and possibly drop the needle down one notch.

yep i race but this is the wifes bike so she dont lean much at all i have 4-5 inch to lean if needed. i only run sidwinders .
rode the gs too day idle is good rev's up great 0-8000 but under a load right od idle it wants to stall but if you get it going it will come out of it and run its ass off!. about 2-3000 rpm is where it runs like crap have not been any faster the 30 on it yet

Also, did you use the rubber plugs that cover the pilot jets on the bottom? These draw their fuel from the main jet tubes and the low speed circuit will not work right without those plugs installed and in good condition.Last edited by Guest; 05-10-2012, 08:47 AM.
