Welcome to the site. As you have the CV carbs, you'll have to change more than just the jets on them as has been explained to me and can be found in the archives here. First though, how well is your bike running at this moment in time? You'll want everything running perfectly in a stock condition or you'll have problems. Secondly, if you must go to pods and jets, get good pods like K&N or you'll have LOTS of problems. Also get a Dynojet kit for the 82 550M as they don't make one for our 81s.

Finally, expect a lot of work tuning the bike after you do that. I'm considering going to pods and jets only if a deal I'm working on a new stock airbox doesn't work out. I'd much rather stay with what I know works then to be fighting and losing riding time.

Basscliff will be along later to give you the official welcome. Please please do yourself a favor and read through his stuff and the Top Ten Newbie Mistakes thread posted on the forum here BEFORE you make any changes to your bike.
