Surely someone around here has a spare to fit an '82 G. If I had one, it'd be yours.
What's wrong with it, anyway?Dogma

kparkfan,
I have an '81 GS450EZ. Doing a cafe project and have installed an Aston cap and don't need the OEM cap. See if it's a match and it's yours.

The reason I'm replacing the the cap is my petcock is giving me problems. I have replaced the oring, washers, and bolts with new oem. But I am still getting gas leaking from the bolts. So I'm thinking my gas cap vent is bad and is causing the pressure to push the gas out through the bolts. If that is even logical.I didnt do it I swear !!

Is it getting past the o-ring gasket thing or the sealing washers or what? It only leaks when the tank is warm?Dogma

I got ahold of z1 and they said that there is only 2 gas caps for my bike anywhere in the U.S. I found a new one on eBay in the U.K. for $31 just might take a while to get here but will save me about $60.I didnt do it I swear !!

Well I took the gas cap off for a couple of days and dried the petcock off but it still leaks. I'm lost as to what can be causing it to leak. It was fine when I put it up for the winter.I didnt do it I swear !!

Gas cap
Hi, iv been reading your threads and i sure hope it works, not least because iv been having very similar problims 1980 GS850L and like you when she was stored during bad weather, she was fine. I have a gas cap seal coming across the Atlantic the other way, from U S A to Ireland but id never made the connection, that thats why she could be running bad just knew the seal was bad and havnt got the seal yet to try it. Sure hope it fits. Sorry i cant be of more help. Stephen.

But if it's leaking at the bolts, it's more than likely the self sealing Oil Gallery Exhaust washers. Those are special washers that seal the bolts and if they're bad, cracked, or flattened, they could be prone to leak. Try to understand that
these holes the bolts fit through bypass that O ring seal at the tank/petcock surface. To better understand, simply remove a bolt and watch the gas pour out.
If that is where the gas is coming, that's where I'd focus my attention.
Item 4, part number 09168-06023, $1.16 each at Boulevard Suzuki.

My petcock was leaking too and you could see where the PO used silicone to try and seal it. I cleaned all the gunk off and replaced those washers that sedelen points out and my problem was solved.
Good luck!
