    If that's the reason for his wanting to replace them, any number of things could cause the fuel to be deposited in that area. Backfiring, flooding at one time or another, or just normal fuel seepage over time. If it were me I wouldn't replace them because of the discoloration and dirt adhering to the area.
    That is a question for MAJikMARCer. I merely made an observation.
    And yes, it could be from a number of things, including a very slight mist leaking from that seal.
    MAJikMARCer, I don't know of anyone who ever replaced those seals when doing a carb rebuild.

      Well that would save me $30+ in parts and who knows how much time, so I'm game leaving it be, unless someone else can see why I should do it...
