Were are the pilot air jets?

I just placed a bid on these used carbs for the 1980 GS550

but now that I'm looking at them I dont think they are the right ones....I dont see the pilot air jets in the carb bodies.

    am I missing something

    heres the link:

CV carbs have the pilot jets internally right next to the needle jet under a rubber cap and they arent adjustable like VMs , so theres no external screw. All you get on a CV is the mixture adjustment which is on the top back section of the carb throat.

Well, Chuck, that is certainly true for the pilot FUEL jets, but he was sepecifically asking about the pilot AIR jets, which are supposed to be in the intake throat, at about the 8 o'clock position.
The picture in the link does not show them, which is why he was asking.

Mike, if you are not the current winning bidder, good, those are not the proper carbs.
If you are the current winning bidder, you had better hope that someone else thinks they want them more than you do.

Do you agree that he should pass on this set of carbs?

Yeah I do..should be an air jet that screws in at 8 like you said..whats your best guess..Kaw or Yammy carbs? The air jet is clearly ssen in the fiches as part 68.

Since it is less than 12 hours left and more than 1 hour since your bid...You need to contact the seller to cancel your bid.

so would these work for me:

the 1980 GS850 uses the same type BS32SS carb as my 82 GS550 right?

I really just need the carb bodies....I have all the other parts.

They would be close. Yes, the basic body is the same, but the throttle shaft between 2 and 3 is longer on the 850. It is possible to change, but is a royal pain, because the little screws that hold the throttle butterflies to the shaft are swedged into place so they won't come out.

Not only do you have to remove those bolts twice (once from each set of carbs), but then you have to do something to anchor one set in the carbs that are going on your bike.

Other parts, like the fuel T, "choke" linkage, etc., you can move over to the "new" carbs rather easily, the throttle linkage is a bit harder.

                          .
