i have a 79 1000e and a 80 1000 G and i switched the exhaust , i just put exhaust from a 821100E on my 79 gs1000E so you might have to do some work on the hinger buy that should not be to bad,

      Just to verify, ... your '80 1000L is really a 1000GL?

      Shaft drive or chain?

If you have a shaft-driven 1000GL, the dimensions for the pipe are different than they are for the earlier 1000 chain-driven models.

The pipes might actually fit into the head and have reasonable routing all the way to the back, but you might have to fabricate a hanger bracket at the rear.

It is a chain drive. All of the pipes say 1979 gs1000l. They have pipes for the 1980 gl.
