Ok. So i might be being a bit premature (again)
But ive cleaned out about a tablespoon ov rust out the tank... Put some fuel in and......
    Vroom!!!.............
I put a fuel filter on and........
    Kaput!!!.....
So i take it back off and......
    Vroom.....

    So.......
Do i leave the filter off?
Im sure there's gona be more rust forming...

Do i find a filter that doesn't restrict the fuel flow?
Or spend nearly £70 ($100) on some pukka tank liner such as Caswells or POD-15?

Is there a recommended inline filter that won't restrict flow?

    Thank you you advance.

You don't really need a filter since the petcock has one already.

Filter is in the petrol tap. More of a screen than filter though, small rust particles get though.

Chain doesn't work to remove rust. You need something finer to scrub the metal (I use aquarium rocks) along with some derusting sauce. A proper derusting takes about a week to perform.

Folks on here have recommended filters used for a lawn mowers... as they also operate under low pressure.

Pop down to Asda and buy 2 or 3 gallons of their cheapest vinegar - comes in small bottles so you have to buy a lot of them (tell the checkout girl you're a recovering alkie and it tastes great mixed with lemon....). I described the process in an earlier post - it'll shift your rust.

Phosphoric acid is the best thing to use to clean rust from a tank. It only eats the rust, not sound metal. It is sold as concrete etcher at home improvement stores and a product called Ospho is sold at most paint stores. You dilute the acid. An online search will tell you how much to dilute it. If you refill the tank right away rust won't start again. The ethanol in fuel probably lets it happen though. Another vote for Por-15. I did my tank 6 or 7 years ago and it still looks like the day I did it.
