Let me interrupt to finish this off. Didn't want to Hijack tc862011's main thread/help, but wanted to learn from the feet of the masters

Yes, from what I've read and talking to others, I understood that I didn't need to rejet my carbs
How stock is your 850? Stock airbox or pods? Stock exhaust or a header?
Everything on the engine and fuel delivery system is stock.
Please carry on with tc862011's thread. I'll take my punishment in a different thread.

what that is in US can be found in an online calculator.

I don't know what mine is getting right now, but now that I have the stock exhaust on, carbs synched, and replaced all the o-rings (carb boot and inside the carbs) it is running a lot better and getting WAY better mileage. I'll have to calculate that out at some point.

It should definitely be getting better mpg then that, I get 45mpg even if I'm flogging it and cruising at 75+ on the freeway. If I try I'll get 50+ (slow acceleration, 65 on the freeway) and this is with my bike not running right.

Are you filling to the exact same level every time you fill up. With the bike on the sidestand, fill to the bottom of the spout in the tank neck. Putting in small amounts of fuel, if you fill a couple of tenths higher and show 1.5 gallons instead of 1.3, it can make a significant difference in how you mpg works out.1983 GS 1100 Guided Laser

One nice thing about doing it that way is that only the first and last fill-ups need to be filled to the same exact amount. Any, or all, of the others can be as partial a fill as you want.

Do o-rings rreally affect that much. And one day i rant the tank from full to empty and got 160 which equaled to around 40 mpg.
