yes you can use the ones in your kit. a lot of people on the site may disagree and share their own comments soon but i have been using normal off the shelf orings on bikes and cars for 30 odd years and never had a problem. i just smear them with silicone grease before fitting.1978 GS1085.
Just remember, an opinion without 3.14 is just an onion!

You can use common nitrile or viton O-rings, but make sure the sizes are correct for the application. I've made my own O-ring kits before and can tell you that you won't find all the proper sizes in a generic O-ring assortment or at an auto parts store.
The carb rebuild tutorial linked in my signature details the proper sizes for the BS/CV carbs. The VM's are different, I have some info on those too...somewhere.Last edited by Nessism; 08-11-2012, 08:17 PM.Ed

Go for it
Fortunately, you don't need to depend on it to get you back to earth from the moon. If you're happy with the way it runs, nothing else matters....but, since taking the carbs off and putting them back on isn't the ideal way to spend an afternoon, I'd be tempted to use the best stuff I could find.1980 GS1100E, the latest of many.
