    Muffler modification

    Hi Gang, I just got an 82 GS850GL...sweet! After a good carb cleaning it runs well but has an un-pleasant sound. I think someone modified the muffler. Here's what I got; it has megaphone shaped mufflers. The end caps have a large center hole (appox 1"dia) and 6 smaller holes (appox 1/2"). The six small holes have flanges formed in them and look factory made. Just foreward of the 6 holes is a plate with 6 smaller holes (appox 1/4"). I suspect the 6 smaller holes were a modification. Am I correct? I think I could plug these without too much trouble.
