Float needle seat - difficult to install with new o-ring?

So I'm putting my carbs back together after a complete teardown and cleaning, and new o-rings from cycleorings.com. One thing I am noticing is that it is incredibly difficult to insert the float needle seat (inlet valve seat?). Is this normal? It's so tight that it seems it is going to get stuck.

Nevermind, I just put some grease on it and pushed real hard, popped right in. I guess that's how it's SUPPOSED to be haha, it certainly wasn't this way when i took it out. In fact it gave no resistance at all when i pulled it out

Although ive not directly worked on a 650..I dont recall "most" other carbs as having a rubber oring on them. Usually its a fiber or aluminum gasket washer. I wll do a parts fiche looksee though.
