    1978 GS1000 Conversion

Hey all ive had my GS for about 8 months now, currently took of the road as i need to rebuild the engine (bit smokey) while its of the road i want to bin the old carbs and install electronic injection ones.

The management system is not a problem, i have something lined up for that the only real fly in the ointment is getting some carbs that line up the same and dont require HEAVY modifcation as in all the port locations and diameters are either the same or close enough.

So has anyone got some advice on the this matter ive dont a search and come across some kwak ones but doesnt really go into much detail

    Thanks

Do you have experience with retrofitting a fuel injection system on a carburetored engine or is this a new hobby? Lots of work involved-what are you hoping for?

Good luck and post lots of photos.

This is about the 6th time I've read here from some newbie that wants to install fuel injection on a GS, but I've yet to see one that worked.

In short no, not on a motorbike engine although I have fitted to many rover v8 engines so have a good understanding of what is required to get it working.

So as previously stated the only real prob would be the carbs, if I can find a complete carb pack that will basically fit to the standard stuff that's half the battle

So any helpful advice is appreciated

        Thanks

Throttle bodies from a KZ1100 (GPZ) will get you started. Get the ones that had the injector in the TB, not a set where the put the injector in the head. You can get modern injectors that fit, but I forget which ones now.

There was a guy from France (or Belgium) and a couple of Finns who did this on 1100s I think. Someone will remember who it was I'm sure.

Along with the throttle bodies, you need a computer. The megasquirt has been popular. You might want to check out this forum: Megasquirt forum
