    Have you done anything to the clutch lately? A dragging clutch can also cause the rpms to drop precipitously with braking.

    '83 GS550es (didn't like the colours in the 80's, but they've grown on me)

      Thanks tom203, this is something I will definitely keep my eye on. I took it out for a spin the other day because it randomly became warm over here and it started right up and ran like a champ!

      Actually, this was something that might have been contributing to the idle problem initially. The person who set up my and cleaned my carbs went ahead and adjusted my clutch, so I immediately adjusted it back to the correct position. However, it still was bogging even after I had readjusted it back.
