Aftermarket air filter GS 400 '77

I just recently bought a GS 400 from '77. To my great dismay the previous owner has completely removed the airbox, and have instead opted to install aftermarket air filter pods directly on to the carburetor.
I am quite new to owning a GS, and I was wondering if any of you had any advice whether or not I should go trough the trouble of finding an original/similar airbox assembly, or simply live with the ugly aftermarket air filter pods?

    Thanks in advance!

Given how many rip airboxes off and go pods, it shouldn't be too hard to find an airbox.

However, if the pod filters are good ones (APE or K&N) then just make sure it's tuned to suit and they'll be fine.

Just maybe, maybe, maybe, the PO rejetted for pods- no matter whether you find an airbox or stick with pods, you have to find out if jetting changes were made.
