Clear coat spray after painting carbs
I'm finishing the painting of my carbs, kept them silver color. Should they be clear coated or not, I used dupli-color engine enamel.

I painted all my tins with the same paint (duplicolor engine) and clear you're using, and even after several coats of heavy duty insulator wax, it will only fend off fuel splashed/drips for a few seconds, and it still will leave a spot. A little polishing compound takes the spots out, but if it stays on there long enough to bubble the paint, you're out of luck.

I would recommend trying Spraymax 2Kand clear over the paint you shot. I used Duplicolor base and Spraymax clear over it, on a previous build, and it held up to fuel, wonderfully. And, Spraymax now offers a system where a shop can custom mix colors and put them in a can for you, all in 2Kpaint. I chose this method to custom shoot my daughter's BC Rich guitar in Plum Crazy Purple, and it went on great and is holding up even better.
