    Fuel Delivery issues

Hello. I have a 1980 gs850g that does not seem to be getting fuel to the carbs. It has been sitting around for a couple years and i figured its time to get it running. the problem is, with the petcock in the prime position, the fuel WILL come out when the inlet tube for the carb is disconnected, but will not when the line is actually connected to the carb. so does that mean that I have some major blockage in the carb fuel inlet? also, the screws on the bars that keep all 4 carbs together are stripped, so i can't even get to the T where the fuel is delivered. Help!!

You need to take the carburetors apart and clean them. Have you tried an impact driver on the screws?

If they are too far gone, drill the screw heads off the screws.

yea i think the screws where stripped by whoever owned this thing last, i've tried drilling out the heads with one of those kits, but after drilling the first one it seems to be dangerously close to the carb. is it feasible to get the screw out?

Use a thick enough drill that once you get past the screw head, the head pops off. Once all of the heads are off, the plate or bar will just fall off. You can unscrew the what's left of the screws with pliers, or maybe even fingers.

Not sure about the "quality" part, but Auto Zone has a 5-piece set for about $10.

                  Sizes include 1/16", 5/32", 1/4", 19/64" and another one that I broke.

Yes, I like the left handed bits, as well. I used to get mine locally, from a local machine shop supply company, but a couple years ago they stopped selling individual bits. You have to buy a large quantity.

You do have to make sure what you're getting, cause you don't want to skimp on these. (I think I bought HHS, fast flute.)

Here is an interesting link about them:

i think quality is not really an issue with left handed drill bits, as they are not used very often, not really used in excess when drilling out a rounded off screw and the fact they are so cheap to replace, this is one area where cheaper options outweigh spending loads of money on a top quality set.
