    help help help

I just bought a sweet 4 to 2 exhaust from a guy, chrome and all in excellent shape, and started to take my old stock exhaust off and low and behold the idiot that I am cross threaded the #2 exhaust bolt on the top side. Now it wont even thread in. I tried chasing the threads with a tap and I honestly don't think there are any threads to chase. Is there anything i can do. I don't really trust myself to drill it out and re tap it. Any ideas that wont result in me paying big bucks to a machine shop to fix it?

Have you looked into purchasing a 8 mm X 1.0 pitch Heli-coil kit?
After you drill it per the instructions, add two of the inserts.
It is best to also apply red lock-tite to the threads of the inserts when you instal them.
You stack the inserts one over the other . You have to insert the first one deep enough to allow enough room for the second one to sit flush with the exterior.
Do not leave a bolt in the inserts until after the lock-tite has dried.
DO insert a test bolt BEFORE it dries to make certain that they are in sync and quickly remove it.

Something tells me that it's NOT an 8 x 1.0 kit he's looking for.

Not sure which one it will be, but it's either going to be an 8 x 1.25mm or 8 x 1.5mm.

Correction as no one has posted for certain, just get an 8 mm by whatever the stock pitch is Heli-coil kit.
Bring a good example with you when purchasing. Standard (coarse) pitch for an 8 mm bolt.
