Synchronising carbs on GS 850 could someone tell me what the engine should be reving at to balance the carbs and also the guages I have are not very steady the needle is shaking a lot until I pick the revs up, the guages are new and they have some taps with them could someone tell me what these are for.Tags: None

Those taps on your gauges are for damping out the needle flutter. Turn them in as far as you can and then wind them out slowly until you see the needles just begin to move. They are very sensitive but you can get them spot on steady if you are careful.
I think the book of words says 1750rpm for a carb synch on your bike. 2000 will be fine.79 GS1000S

Suzuki manuals generally say that the idle is set at approx 2000 and be mindfull that as myou sync, the RPMs will change so be ready to readjust the idle knob as needed.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.
