Jet setting for 78 gs750 (VM carb)

Okay, I ran into a little problem when I started to take every jet out of my carb to clean it. It wasn't until I started to put them back together that I read the manual.

The manual doesn't give this jet a name, it only says "do not turn or unscrew"

Well, I did, and I didn't record the number of turns it was at.

This is the jet I'm talking about, the one on the left, it has a spring also. I assume its a fuel mix screw?

I'm not really sure what to do at this point, so I came here!
Any help would be much appreciated!

That's your fuel screw, the stock setting is 5/8 out from being "gently" seated. Your air mixture screw on the upper side of the carbs should be roughly double your fuel screw, so 1 1/4. Make sure you use the correct spring for each of those screws, the more dense spring goes with the air mixture screw. Just looked through your other posts and saw a picture of your bike. I saw that one for sale recently, not sure if you bought it or you're the guy selling it but either way you've got open pipes and pods. Your carb setting will be nothing like stock, nor should your main jets or your main needle settings. Yes it would have been helpful to know what the jets were before you pulled them apart, assuming they were set right, but you can start with the stock settings and hopefully they are somewhat close so at least the bike will start. Make sure you write down the jet numbers of all your jets, main, fuel, pilot, air, and anything else so you have a reference as well it would be very helpful to know what setting the clip is at on your main needle.

Also if you look close there will be a mark on the carb body like someone hit it with a chisel Turn it about 3/4 turn out and the slot should align with the mark

Yes on the 3/4...thats the basic setting they used because of the newly implemented EPA exhaust regs back then. Its intended to ever so lean so the bike would pass the EPA emissions standards. By GENTLY seated we mean that you gently grip the screwdriver with your thumb and 1 finger...when the screw stops..YOU STOP!! The make a little mark with a sharpy or whatever in line with the slot and then do the adkustment...which will get ya very close to the factory setting.
