Gas tank vent tube leak
OK guys, here's the story.A while back everybody was superhelpful with fixing my carb/petcock issue.Got a new oem petcock from suzuki, cleaned carbs, drained and changed oil(gas got in it),put it all back together today and she ran like a champ EXCEPT the vent tube still drips gas.Seems like an easy fix, considering all the work I've done so far, took it apart a while ago, I mean do you really need the vent ,can I seal it? is it that weird lookin rubber seal or does the whole shabang have to be replaced? the garage is smellin like gas again and the ball and chain won't let up.any advice greatly appreciated, HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all u ole GS'ers!Tags: None

Is it the overflow vent tube? Whatever it is its in the schematic for the gas tank, unless Suzki is wrong too.

I wonder, are you talking about the drain line from around the sending unit for the fuel gauge? The tank vents through the key hole in the cap1984 GS1100GK newest addition to the heard

I wouldn't seal the vent. A sealed vent plus an over-flowing carb = fuel in the crankcases. Not good!
The problem is most likely further up the line eg sticking float, bad petcock etc.
Why don't you add the model of the bike to your sig? Then someone who knows that particular model can advise more specifically.1980 GS550ET

The fuel sending unit line comes off the metal plate up under the bottom off the tank, and runs towards the back of the bike.1984 GS1100GK newest addition to the heard

So, should I just replace the whole sending unit in the tank or just the seal? Its a pain in the arse to keep emptying the tank to play with it.One and done is what I want.
