    VM 33 floats

I'm having a bit of a problem geeting the float bowl pins out

I can see that they're directional (they have a head on one end)

There's no threads or pins in there?

I gradually working my way thru pentrating oil and heat, no movement as yet

When I rebuilt a set I just used a small punch and gently tapped them out.

Pretty much the same procedure as removing the pins from other carb float towers.

Use a spring loaded automatic center punch & put a small socket over the head of the other end to support the post to keep it from breaking the post. I've been doing it this way for 30 years & NEVER broken a post. Ray.

        Thanks guys

as a very large guy, I've had a bad habit of breaking fragile things, so I've been working up to more force. I don't want to F up one of these carb bodies.

I was just a bit unsure when I saw that these pins are T shaped. I've done lots of 26s, a few 29s, but never 33s

I'm surprised at how different they are

          Didn't know that one either.
On the 29mm smoothbores for my CBX they were the regular pins.
This pic from MikesXS shows the head and no thread for your 33mm.

Heat them a little with a propane torch and then a drop of oil on each post while they are warm. It will smoke, so do it outside or with the garage door open. Then tap them out as described above. I have used a finish nail held with pliers to tap them out. Once they get far enough out to grab the nail head end..just twist and gently pull them out. that nail head isnt needed and you can basically file it off and the knurling that at that end as well. The carb bowl is cast to trap the pin when it is on the carbs, so dont worry if the pin goes in from each end...its not gonna fall out.
