1979 GS 100 main jet question for correct or not
I took my vs26ss carbs apart to give them a good deep clean and rebuild. My bike ran well when I took it all apart and found the main jet numbers. I aside they are stage three since the bike has pod filters and 4 in to 1 Vance and Hines exhaust on it. The main jets read 127.5 on them with an R and square with another square in the lower left corner of the bigger square on the other side of the slot. I called dyno jet and they said it wasn't their jets for stage three. So here is my question does anyone know if these are the correct jets for the application they are in. I am not sure since the bike ran without backfire, black smoke, or surging when I rode it around the yard. It was difficult to start sometimes when it was cold but would start and run and idle well. Would appreciate which direction I need to go . Thanks

i would ride it first and see how it runs, no point buying the kit if it runs ok as it is1978 GS1085.
Just remember, an opinion without 3.14 is just an onion!

I agree with run it as it is now and see what happens..my money os on its gonna be just fine. You can always richen it up a bit by smimming the needles with a .010 or .015 thick washer under each clip..and i mean with the clip in the center groove.
You can buy thin nylon washers and rub them on a flat file and basically make them any ending thickness you want, or you can move the clip down one notch also to richen it a tad.Last edited by chuck hahn; 02-01-2013, 11:23 PM.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)

I would rather trust my bike to a "QUACK" that KNOWS how to fix it rather than a book worm that THINKS HE KNOWS how to fix it.

When I took the needle out it had a thick washer on top clip in top groove and a thin washer on bottom.

Put it back together as it came aprt and run it with NEW plugs..then take a look at the plugs. If you feel its too lean then move the entire assembly DOWN one clip spot and recheck.MY BIKES..1977 GS 750 B, 1978 GS 1000 C (X2)
