Bluing Returned
After spending hours getting all the bluing off my header pipes, and rejetting the carbs correctly, I went for a short ride and the blue came back! Has this happened to anybody else?Tags: None

Well, I don't know what to do now. I have 120 main jets, 40 pilot jets, 170 pilot air jets, stock needles and the mixture screws out 2 1/2 turns. Should I turn the mixture screws out to 3 full turns? Should I change my pilot jets to 42.5? Both?

Do as cableguy said. Plug chops will tell you where your going lean. Don't dive into adjusting things your not sure is causing your lean condition. Search for plug chop, learn the process and find what circuit is lean then fix and bye bye bluish pipes.
Every bike is different so your jet sizies can mean anything to us...
Good luck!Jedz Moto

Surely if your header pipes are single skin then I don't see how you can avoid them going blue/discoloured even with the correct jetting, but if they are double skinned (one pipe within an outer) then you should not get any blue they were designed to stop that. The big guy up there rides a Suzuki (this I know)

Unfortunately they are single tubed Vance & Hines. At least the collector and muffler haven't turned back blue, just the headers.

I have had my V&H header for years, and only the top part of the headers are blue. If your pipes were blue down to the collector I would imagine you were mega lean and hard running it.
Does it have pods too? If so you need the adjustable DJ needle.
